Syntharan Synthography Set (2023/24)

At 2,694 unique tiles and 25,000 pixels, this piece displays just a fraction of the works in this series, generated in early 2023.  They further explore the design language of Synthara, my ongoing far-future science fiction world.

This piece was displayed at the RCAD gallery along with the other presenters for the AI symposium in September 2024.

These tiles were all spawned through finetuning ("custom training") the lesser-known Stable Diffusion 2.1 base model using the Embedding method on a local GPU.

All of the images used in the process were with my own data, such as 3D artworks/crops, 2D drawings, and previous generated outputs.

The variety within this volume of works also came from thousands of unique prompts which mixed and matched those different embeddings in different proportions using Zirnprompt.

The purpose of this experiment on whole, besides fun, was to make a corpus to help reflect on the identity of Synthara.

This setting features a kind of infrastructural post-scarcity derived from a massive amount of networked microbots ("voxites"), and the plant-like emergent minds ("Spectors") arising from them.
