Archive of Teenage Artwork

I'm sharing some of my REALLY old artwork, mostly from early High School (Age 14 ish), when I really felt like I started really finding my stride as an artist. I didn't know anything about digital art back then, and had a lot of patience! I have always been drawn to pattern and intricacy. In a lot of ways I have come full circle since art school and years of professional work, so it's amusing to share these.

(Age 14) - "Specimen Bt(q)-34.8.A"
Watercolor and pen, 11" x 14"
I had started a children's book project about experimental cyborg guinea pigs.
They worked together to escape from their lab, using their diversity of appendages as an advantage.

(Age 14) - "Symbiotic Relationship 2"
Watercolor and pen, 6.5" x 9"
The main stalks in the foreground are from a single organism (an entire one can be seen in the background).
This organism is actually a scavenger, which eats out bone marrow.

(Age 14) - "The Harvest"
Watercolor and pen, 6.5" x 9"
The alien is harvesting a fluid produced by the illuminated sacs. (The broken ones are dead- no light).
It's using the tool in its "left" tentacle to detect whether the fluid is good or not.

(Age 14) - "The Sense Consumers" Acrylic on canvas.
Inter-dimensional worm-like beings eat 3D space + color, then poop de-saturated cubism.
Once a worm seed is planted, they grow outward, creating holes in reality until they eventually die.

(Age 15) - "Home stem cell incubator"
I was also interested in engineering at the time.
This was an idea for a machine that would let someone take a tiny sample of their own tissue,
and grow more for certain therapies.

(Age 16) - "Symbiotic Relationship 2"
The red plant on the left holds onto seeds and whips around in circles to attract flying creatures.
These then drop dead from the seeds' poison and are consumed the red worm circling it, which fertilizes in return.

(Age 18) - "Fightface"
Yes, it's Lego minifigures and Digimon miniatures fighting… on my face.
Done for an open-ended art assignment to make a graphite self-portrait.

(Age 17) - "The Escape"
An oil on board portrait of my brother playing video games.
I was interested in the painting techniques of the old Flemish masters, but of modern subjects.

(Age 13) - "Glacius Fossura"
5.5" x 5.5"
This is a creature that burrows through ice, which it uses powerful vibrations to melt.
It can latch onto sloped tunnel walls with the heated spikes on its tail.

(Age 13/14) - A micron pen drawing of a dragon crystal collector on another planet.
Also part of my ongoing war against negative space.
