Splashscape Series

This is part of a series of small paintings (around 5" x 7") I did over 2016/2017. It was a great break from the technical work I had been doing a lot of at the time. I began with rich pools of watercolor pigment which I then blew around the paper with an airbrush to create branchy plant-like forms. I went in and popped some of them with pen. I was attempting to capture the landscapes I see in my mind's eye, the kind of murky, elusive forms which dance to the pulse of my default network.
